Diecast: T Shirts

Monday, June 23rd, 2008

Wearing t shirts is a universal way for diecast collectors to show support of their favorite scale model brands or racecar drivers. Because many diecast collectors are also racing enthusiasts, you are likely to see many auto-sports-related screen-prints worn at a hobby convention or any place that diecast collectors gather. It is not uncommon to also find diecast models for sale right next to t shirts at sporting events.

While its easy to find and purchase endorsed shirts at a clothing retail store, those looking for very specific or rare shirts usually look in more specialized locations. Sporting goods shops are an ideal place to find officially licensed tees. Shoppers look for details such as the drivers name, car number and major sponsors logos screen printed on the back and front of the shirt.

Web Deals on Diecast T Shirts
The Internet is a great place to find special deals on t shirts that appeal to diecast collectors and car enthusiasts. Some Web sites offer a collector bundle, which usually includes a scale model of a particular car and a shirt with a picture of that same car. With a careful Web search on Google or eBay, a collector will find t shirts displaying specific diecast brands or series.

Other Web sites carry a full line of diecast related products, including apparel, housewares, auto goods, greeting cards and bags. These sites really charm the serious diecast fanatic, or at least to friends and families of these devoted collectors. A diecast related coffee mug, bumper sticker, mouse pad or calendar is a great gift for a scale model buff.

Diecast: Do Rags

Sunday, June 22nd, 2008

Do rags are stylish nylon headgear that fits tight to the scalp. These head accessories have become popular recently for both men and women as the final piece to complete a hip, trendy outfit. Fashionable shoppers can find hundreds of different styles of do rags-from plain, solid colors to decorative prints displaying logos and pictures.

Diecast enthusiasts can sport many different styles of this head accessory to show support of their favorite driver, car or sponsor. The popular Dale Earnhardt, Jr. headgear displays his car number 8 above his signature on the front band. The prevailing black color complements the hanging tie strings and red band, which displays the white autograph on the front and black racing stripes on the sides.

Many auto supply stores also offer diecast merchandise, sports memorabilia and fashion accessories. So, when purchasing car customization and engine building components, one can also put a do rag on the bill. These shops will often sell styles that display their own brand name as well as designs endorsed by professional racers.

Do Rags Under Raps
In the 1940s, many African-American men originally wore cutoff rayon or silk stockings on their heads while sleeping to hold their processed hairdos flat and smooth. Do rags returned in the 70s as more of a rebellious fashion statement, but hip-hop culture of the 90s brought the style back into urban vogue and eventually mainstream. Today, do rags are a common fashion accessory worn not only by hip-hop heads, but anyone who wants to add a chic element to their look.

Diecast: Boat Models

Saturday, June 21st, 2008

Boat models are one of the many types of vehicles that are collected by scale model devotees. Along with diecast cars, trucks, motorcycles and tractors, boats are a very popular collectors item enjoyed by people of various ages and backgrounds. Diecast companies produce many different types of boat models, including speed racing boats, fishing boats and old classic sea fishing vessels.

A strong tie exists between racecar drivers and fishing boats because many NASCAR celebrities, such as Ryan Newman, are also avid recreational fishers. Like many of the 1:24 scale model boats, Ryan Newmans limited-edition Ranger Bass Boat by Action and Castaway includes a scale trailer. Combined with an accurate detailed diecast model of a truck that has a trailer hitch, a complete weekend sports set can be replicated.

Bobby Labontes boat model, from the same series, is finely detailed to include a moving outboard motor, swiveling fisher seats and opening compartments. Colorful character M&Ms are the main feature of the brown and yellow Elliott Sadler Ranger Bass Boat and Trailer model. The replica of Dale Earnhardt, Sr.s commemorative Nitro Boat & Trailer has incredible detail and includes opening fishing wells and rod compartments.

Racing Boat Models
Racing boat models is an exciting category of scale model boats. Collectors enjoy the engineered precision of these speedy, aerodynamic replicas. Danbury Mints 1:24 scale of the Telmex F1 tunnel boat is finely detailed down to the seatbelts in the opening cockpit.

Diecast: Diecast Muscle Cars

Friday, June 20th, 2008

Diecast muscle cars replicate the loud, customized vehicles with oversized back tires that can be seen peeling out when the traffic light turns green. These powerful machines were built for racing, which is evident from the typical painted racing stripes or flames on the side of the car. The most eye-catching, common characteristic of these hot rods is the gigantic engine that pops through the hood.

Collectors are attracted to diecast muscle cars because of their exciting details of colors and decals as well as their overall powerful look. Hundreds of models of these mighty machines are available to diecast collectors and car buffs. Diecast replicas of the famous classic models, such as the Chevelle SS, Ford Fairlane and Pontiac GTO, are available.

Serious collectors have a sharp eye for the precision details of these diecast muscle cars. The Welly 1:18 scale 1970 Pro Street Chevelle is a striking yellow and black diecast that features a tunnel ram intake and a six-point roll cage. One of the most famous fictional muscle cars, the General Lee from The Dukes of Hazard, is available as a 1:18 scale of a 1969 Dodge Charger.

Scale model motorcycles are quickly gaining more popularity among diecast collectors. The cable television program American Chopper has grabbed the interest of viewers who had previously never thought of motorcycles. There is even a new series of 1:18 scale choppers based on the bikes created on the show.

Diecast: Diecast Wholesale

Thursday, June 19th, 2008

Diecast wholesale is a beneficial method of transferring goods to the scale model consumer. The process of wholesaling usually takes out the middleman of a retail store and passes the savings right to the diecast collector. Many manufacturers have either a diecast wholesale department, which allows them to deal directly with consumers, or a distribution department that sells to other wholesale operations.

Collectors can find diecast scale models at many different locations both on and offline. Most novice collectors will first go to a retail toy store chain to purchase a popular diecast vehicle. To cover the high overhead of rent, advertising and operation costs, however, that store has to increase the price of all items it sells, which is a disadvantage to collectors.

The more serious collector will shop at a hobby store or specialized diecast scale model store to look for hard-to-find items or special bargains. Usually a larger chain store is a retail operation, while smaller mom-and-pop shops are either discount retail or wholesale operations. One reason collectors are attracted to the no-frills, independent stores is because members of the staff are usually collectors themselves and are much more knowledgeable about the merchandise.

Diecast Wholesale on the Web
The other charm of the independent diecast store is the noticeable discounted prices. Online stores can offer an even greater discounts for some of the same reasons as a mom-and-pop storefront. Diecast wholesale ecommerce operations have extremely low overhead since they dont have to pay rent for a retail space and have low operational costs.
